Axle's First Field Trip

Today was Field Trip Day for Axle. This was his first real Big Boy Field Trip! He went to a few local places when he was in Preschool but was always driven by me. Today he got to ride a big bus for the very first time.

Our morning started early. Hubby had to leave an hour earlier this morning for a meeting at work. I think he was out the door around 4:00 this morning. The kids and I got up around 6:00 and got ready. We had to be at Axle's school by 7:30. His school hosted Muffins for Mom today which meant I got to eat breakfast with him and Lee. I had a honey bun while they had waffles! After breakfast I walked Axle to his room and then went to the parking lot and met up with Mom, Anika and Cody. We stopped out back and loaded the classroom coolers up to transport for them and then waited behind the buses for the kids to load.

I wondered how Axle would like the bus. Surprisingly he said it was just okay. I thought he would love it but guess I was wrong. The trip today was to the Pumpkin Patch. It was only about an hour and fifteen minute ride so not too bad at all.

When we arrived we all got with our class and the adults paid their general admission. The first activity for us was a Hayride around the field to check out the animal and pick a pumpkin. Ax got to feed a cow a pumpkin and he thought that was pretty cool. The hayride was pretty much like any other we have been on but our tractor driver was super nice!

After the Hayride our kids were escorted to the Pumpkin Painting area where they each got a chance to paint the pumpkin they picked. Annalee got to paint too and she thought it was just so cool. I think because she felt like such a big kid.

The next stop for us was their petting zoo area. Axle fed a Donkey and Lee thought she was going to right up until it moved it's head near her. She freaked out and threw the food down! It was too cute. Lee also LOVED the rabbits and now wants Santa to bring her one. Let's hope she forgets about it before Christmas.

We all then stopped so the class could get a Group Photo!!!

It was then Lunch Time. The school packed lunches for all the kids. Their was a concession stand for parents. Mom and I got a corndog and drink while Anika got her an order of nacho's. I don't think any of the kids ate too much because we had lunch right by the play area. Needless to say they were ready to play so after we ate and cleaned up, that is what they did!

The kids got to play a good hour and a half and play they did. They played their little hearts out. I can't blame them though, it was the coolest playground ever!!!!

My favorite part of the day besides watching my babies was looking at all the pretty decor! I even went in the barn and done a little shopping before we left. I got some almond candy that was delicious and bought the Hubby some cinnamon rock candy! Mom loaded up on pumpkins for the pumpkin carving party she's having!

This was our first visit ever to a pumpkin patch but hopefully won't be our last. I'd like to make it a yearly tradition! The kids had such a wonderful time and it was a great field trip idea. Our elementary school is the best. I'm glad I let Lee and Anika miss school today too so they could experience it. Especially Lee, she had as much fun as Axle!

I started taking a headache right before we left and by the time we got in the car I was dying. Ax decided to ride home with us instead of ride the bus. My poor Mom drove us home with me and all the kids asleep! I just felt so bad. I didn't even stop by the school and get my car, I told her I'd go back and get it later.

When I got home Anika watched the kids and I went straight to bed. I knew if I didn't I was going to be at the hospital with a migraine. Luckily after 2 1/2 hours of sleep I woke up feeling much better.

Hubby came home this evening and worked on my Fall Decorations. The wind blew them down today, it was quite windy. He got them back up and looking like new though. Sis and Cody went to the store for me and got stuff for dinner. I made some spaghetti tonight, quick and easy. The rest of our evening consisted of baths, homework, playing, talking and watching The Voice! Perfect day minus the headache.

I should be in bed now but of course I'm not tired after my nap. Everyone else is asleep so I think I'll do some party planning and look at some new recipes. I got a few events coming up that I'm going to have to cook for so I'm looking for some new yummy stuff to make.

Friends- it's been a GREAT day around here. Tomorrow is a rest day for me though. I've got housework to catch up on and paperwork to do! I hope you all are having a great week. Hopefully tomorrow I'll work in some blog reading and see what you all have been up to.

  1. I'm so glad you posted lots of pictures. I feel as if I were there with you. It sounds like the perfect day except for your headache. What a shame. I get migraines so I understand what you were going through. Not fun. I hope you've gotten your car back by now.
